The Byron Peter Foundation for Hope was founded by Marilynn Hammond in memory of her son, Byron Peter Harrington II, who tragically took his own life
at age twenty-nine.Suicide is the third leading cause of death of young men, and the eighth leading cause of death for
males. Males ages 15 to 24 are six times more likely to take their own life than females that age. The reasons for his actions will forever be a
mystery, but Byron's family would like to turn their grief into action. They would like him to be remembered for the good things he did in his short life.
Byron inspired many with his understanding and love for family, friends, and even casual acquaintances. So it is fitting that the mission of the Byron Peter Foundation
for Hope is to inspire troubled young people with hope for a strong future. With that goal in mind, the Foundation's first project was to build the Byron Peter Cabin
at a camp & retreat facility located in Pascoag, Rhode Island, and to establish a Camp Scholarship Fund that will be used to provide financial
assistance for troubled young people who might benefit from the supportive environment at the camp.
The Byron Peter Cabin was completed in March 2005, and now other projects to help young people are currently being funded with Byron Peter Foundation for Hope monies. Please click here
